Learning About Network Marketing

As we all know, the secret to being successful in this business is to become sucessful within ourselves - by developing our personal effectiveness. Sometimes it is hard to find the time for personal development ...but, while visiting Arizona in the fall I came across a great learning tool - the Residual Income Game and subsequently learned of some one hour teleconferences that take place each Thursday (they are also recorded and left up for 3 days after the original call). Take a moment now and go to https://rit.infusionsoft.com/go/psa/B38 and register for the Skill Radio Training calls.

There's no charge to listen to the calls. Each week you'll be able to improve yourself by learning and taking action to develop one new skill. Don't worry if you can't always make the call but I hope you will make it part of your weekly personal development.

I have had a few questions about how to get paid, so I thought I would tell you what I did when I first started.

If you have people purchasing products under you, then you will want to place an order under your own ID, so that you get paid on the products that are sold under you. For example, if Carolyne sells products, she is under me, so in order for me to get paid on what she sells, I have to place an order under my own ID, for approximately $140 retail ($91 wholesale) and that will equal 100QV (qualifying volume).

What you want to do, is purchase products that you would normally purchase if you were to go to London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart etc. I don’t look at it like “I have to spend $100” in order to get paid, I think about what products I would use every month and I buy them from my own store. I use shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, hand crème, supplements etc. so it’s not like I am having to spend money to get paid, I am spending money because I need to wash my hair and I love the products!

As your business grows, you won’t “have” to place that order for your own products because you will have reorders and retail orders from repeat customers, but you probably will still purchase products, because you still will wash your hair, use face crème, etc.

If you have people selling products under you, then you are so lucky that someone is helping you build your business. Be a product of the product and use them, they are awesome products and you get a 35% discount.

I purchase the baby products for gifts, the spa products for gifts, etc. I had a consultant order the FC5 basket of products to give to a friend that was going in for an operation. Use your own store to shop from. It lets other people try the products and chances are that they will love them. You can be building a business without even wanting to sell products.

Turtles tell tales…a seaside lesson in determination

When you find yourself facing seemingly insurmountable odds, consider the first days in the life of a sea turtle hatchling.

Buried beneath a foot and a half of sand, the sea turtle’s first test of survival is to break out of its shell…with a single temporary tooth. Free of its shell, the newborn must then dig its way through the wet, heavy sand to the surface. Given its size and strength, this exhausting task can take up to a week.

After finally breaking through the sand, the race for survival really begins! In hopes of avoiding any confrontations with natural predators, the young turtle waits to take advantage of the cover of darkness before scrambling toward the shoreline.

Once in the ocean, the newborn swims frantically for almost two days fighting powerful undersea currents over which they have no control before reaching the safety of the unanchored seaweed beds that serve as their homes.

If something smaller than the palm of your hand can do all that within the first week of its life, there’s no stopping you from overcoming every obstacle...all it takes is determination and a clear focus. Like the hatchling, you’ll reach your bright horizon by making sure that the details don’t become a distraction and that your gaze is fixed squarely on your goals. You can do it!

“Approach every challenge with a level head and unwavering determination…all your horizons will be bright.”

Great words...

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson

Calling Back Does It

  • 48% of salespeople make 1 call and quit.
  • 25% of salespeople make 2 calls and quit.
  • 15% of salespeople make 3 calls and quit.
  • 88% of salespeople quit after, 1, 2, or 3 calls.
  • 12% of salespeople keep on calling.

The 12% who keep on calling do 80% of the business. Yet it was discovered that 60% of the merchandise was purchased at the fifth call or after!

Moral - Even the most difficult prospect can be sold if called on regularly. Now I ask you - which approach will you follow?

Goals, Thoughts and general musings...

If you were at today's training meeting and/or the Road Show - thank you! Susan and I were thrilled to have such a great turnout and to see everyone getting excited about Arbonne. I have been sitting at my computer this evening attempting to get some orders entered and the system is so busy that it just won't let me do what I want to do - how wonderful to be working with a company that so many people want to join and order products from! As you heard today, sales in Canada are up 50% from 2008 and in BC we are up 70% - sponsoring of new consultants has increased by 122% (Canada) and 161% (BC) in twelve months time - WOW!

I've been reflecting on some of the things that Arbonne has brought into my life while I've been working this evening - the most important and biggest is that the connections that I am making with all of you...we were asked by our ENVP Karen Skeels to write a goal and then what it would feel like when we accomplished that goal so I started writing, and I responded to Karen's email and then I just kept going...here is part of what I wrote to Karen...

My Goal
One goal that I have, and this is speaking today, as it has been what I would call an extremely busy month (and I am usually already a really busy person) is to do exactly what we have been talking about in the "Class of 2009" sessions (or what I have been listening to) and that is to have a day of rest - I can definitely put my head down on my pillow these days and say that I have worked hard in my Arbonne business and it is time to rest but I need a break....just for a day....so my goal is to rest and rejuvinate - and I will feel ready to get going again ~ maybe not tomorrow but very soon!

My thoughts...
Today, I looked around - between Susan and I and our various teams that we are working with, plus our guests that we brought to introduce into the business, we filled four tables at the Road Show probably about 25+ people - I looked at the variety of women that we have attracted to work with us - they each have a story and they will each have their strengths with their Arbonne business - I will not be able to capture exactly the words that Alena spoke during our training session today but after Doreen explained how we all work together, regardless of which 'line' we fall under (e.g. the stuff that I do helps her even though I don't directly benefit from it), Alena said that she sees Arbonne as a big tree with a strong trunk and we are all the branches, each of our teams or our groups represented by bigger branches, little branches and then the leaves. Alena - if you are reading this, please post a reply and say it better than I am. So much talent and so many wonderful women sharing their talents - that is really what Arbonne is about, isn't it - we are weaving a web of connection...who knows where we can all take each other...I know that I am becoming a better, stronger person because of what I am learning with Arbonne and the people that are being brought into my life.

For those of you who don't know already, because of all of our efforts, Susan Pearse has reached qualification for Area Manager - this means that in January she accumulated 10,000 QV between herself and her teams working with her - this is you - you are part of this team - one day your team will be doing this for you!

STILL the system is too busy to help me! While part of me yearns to be frustrated over not being able to get to do what I want to do, I am repeating to myself "I am thankful for the abundance that is being brought into the company of Arbonne because this abundance will be evident in the products, services and support that are available to me as an Independent Consultant".

I read somewhere today something that made me smile - last year someone coined 'look great in 2008 with figure 8' - I just read 'the Merecedes is mine in 2009'....cute

Where ever you go, there is someone you know!

I am so pleased when my weekend adventures include "Saturday with Sherry" - this past weekend we ventured to Sidney to the mixed level yoga class at The Yoga Studio. Not only do I love that I've made the time for yoga, but also that no matter where we go, we run into someone we know (I love this idea Sherry). And, sometimes there is someone we don't know but we are supposed to meet. I believe so much that our success is determined by the connections that we make with others - be it business or personal - you never know what is going to come to you, or what you can bring to someone else, until you say 'hello' and when you have the chance to meet a new person because of a friend and make a connection, that is even more special.

Always remember to follow up with those you meet - you will stay 'top of mind' if they are ever looking for someone who 'does what you do'.
